What the panel does

Siting, drilling, pump installation, filtration and the reticulation from source to tap. A borehole is a water supply, not a hole, and the panel prices the whole supply: yield test, pump sized to the test, tank, pressure set and the connection to what exists.

The paperwork matters more than most clients expect. Registration of the water use with the Department of Water and Sanitation is the owner's obligation, and Arabella's quote carries the registration as an item rather than leaving it as a surprise.

Existing boreholes that have stopped are assessed before anything is replaced: a pump that has failed and a hole that has silted are different jobs at different prices.

A borehole quote through Arabella has four parts a client can compare: drilling by the metre with a stated maximum, the pump and plant sized to the yield test, the reticulation to the point of use, and the registration. Drilling that finds nothing is the risk in the trade, and the quote says who carries it.

Who commissions it

Estates and bodies corporate securing irrigation or backup supply, schools and commercial sites reducing a municipal bill, and owners whose existing borehole has failed or was never registered.

Registers that apply to boreholes

What to ask any contractor for before you award, on the panel or off it. Every one of these is checked before a panel contractor quotes.

Department of Water and Sanitation registration

Water use under section 21 of the National Water Act must be registered; the deadline for existing commercial boreholes closed in July 2026.

SANS 10299

The development, maintenance and management of groundwater resources; the standard the drilling and pump installation follow.

Electrical CoC

The pump supply is an electrical installation and needs its own certificate from a registered person.
