SAQCC Gas
The South African Qualification and Certification Committee for Gas: the register of gas practitioners, and the only people who may issue a gas certificate of conformity.
What the register is for
Every gas installation, from a kitchen hob to a bulk LPG tank, must carry a certificate of conformity issued by a registered gas practitioner, and without one the installation is uninsurable and the property is difficult to transfer. SAQCC Gas registers the practitioner by category of gas and class of installation, and the certificate carries the registration number.
Who must be on it
Gas installers, and every client with gas geysers, communal supply, a restaurant kitchen or a generator on bulk fuel.
Where it comes from
Pressure Equipment Regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act; SANS 10087-1 for LPG installations.
How to check
Look the practitioner up by registration number. The number is on the certificate.
What a listing does not prove
That an existing installation still meets the current standard; a certificate is a statement about the installation on the day it was issued.
